FAQ’s

1. How do I register?

Depending on where you live, please call us on either of the numbers below to enquire about tutors near you available for home tutoring. Alternatively please complete our online enquiry form.  Currently we only offer home tutoring in Gloucestershire and the West Midlands County.

0121 270 3921 – West Midlands
01452 226 554 – Gloucestershire

2. Do the lessons have to be in my home and how long are they?

The tutoring sessions can be held any place that is a convenient and suitable venue. If they are to take place at a private address, an adult must be present. Alternatively they can take place at a library or any other mutually agreeable, suitable public location. Our lessons are hourly, depending on individual circumstances, we recommend no longer than 1 to 2 hours weekly per subject for a student studying the same subject at school during the week.

3. How will you teach my child(ren)?

Students learn in various ways whether it be visual, auditory, reading / writing or kinesthetic. All our tutors are very experienced with teaching using various methods to ensure they understand what is being taught. Tutors give lots of examples whether it be illustrating on a piece of paper, discussing verbally or demonstrating practically.

4. Who are your tutors and what qualifications and experience do they have?

All our tutors are subject specialists graduates and the vast majority are also qualified teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). All our tutors have experience delivering National Curriculum and exam board specific material for their specialist subject within a tutoring setting. Our tutors come from a rich variety of backgrounds with expertise in the field and a passion for helping their learners succeed.

5. Will my child(ren) receive homework?

Yes. 1-2-2 students are given an appropriate amount of homework on a weekly basis.  All homework is based on what a child has learnt in the lesson and is designed to reinforce their learning.

6. Will I be informed regularly of my child(ren)s progress?

Yes, all our students have weekly progress reports which will let you know how they performed in the lesson and with their homework. Tutors and parents can also write comments within the weekly reports which make them a great way of ensuring regular communication between your child(ren)s tutor and yourself. In addition to this, if the tutoring session is held at your home address, you can always have a quick verbal update at the end of the tutoring session.

7. How do I contact my tutor?

Once we have assigned a tutor, you will be provided with their contact details.

8. How do I cancel or reschedule my tutoring session?

Please call your tutor with as much notice as possible and also notify the relevant office. We require 24 hours notice in order to cancel / reschedule lessons. Rescheduling can be done with the tutor directly, however you must notify the office of the new temporary or permanent time and location.

9. What if I am having problems with my tutor?

You can contact your local office and they will happily find an alternative tutor to meet your needs.

10. Are all staff DBS cleared?

Yes all our staff are DBS cleared.

My son has been going to Cohort Tuition for a few years now and he has excelled in both Maths and English and is now in the top set for these subjects. It was extremely difficult to find someone whom you can trust and know that they are providing the best Tuition Education for your child and we are just happy that Cohort Tuition provides both. I just wished i had knew about Cohort Tuition.
