Henna Begum, Primary Tutor
After graduating from The University of Birmingham I knew that I wanted to pursue a career that would make a difference to peoples' lives. I have always been passionate about education and especially getting children to reach their potential. Teaching became a natural career choice for me so a PGCE in primary teaching was a no brainer.
At Cohort Tuition, I can put my passion into practice, from a normal big busy classroom into a small focussed classroom. The groups are very small at Cohort which makes giving individual attention and identifying issues and concerns that much easier. We have a great supportive team around us and it has a real family feel to it with the children always coming first. As tutors we are constantly pushed to motivate our students to reach their potential.
Seeing my students move up a full level in an academic year is extremely rewarding, especially when their school teachers and local head teachers can’t believe the progress they have made with regular tuition. However, the biggest buzz and reward comes from the parents and children themselves telling me how much of a difference I have made.
Zoe Gale McGarry, A-Level Tutor
In addition to being a qualified teacher I have a PhD in Cell Biology. I am currently teaching at an independent college rated outstanding by Ofsted and at Cohort Tuition. I am also an examiner for AQA. I mainly teach AS/A2 Biology and GCSE Science. The thing that I like most about teaching is that "eureka" moment when my students understand and can apply what they have learnt.
My own interest in science began with my interest in animals and nature. I became curious about keeping my pets healthy and this meant learning about what was going on inside their bodies. There is just so much to learn within the sciences and there are continually new discoveries across all of the sciences, I never get bored!
At Cohort Tuition there is a great balance between professionalism without losing the warm family touch. The extra tuition gives students increased confidence in their ability by enabling them to learn in an atmosphere where they can ask any questions without feeling embarrassed and can study or catch up at their own pace. However, I always bear in mind that I am working with students who in the future could become my nurse, healthcare manager, chemist, doctor or dentist, so I expect students to achieve high standards of work and motivate them to succeed to the best of their abilities!
Paul Brown, GCSE Tutor
I am a qualified teacher who is also an avid learner. I have graduated from The Open University, The University of Derby, Manchester Met and The Birmingham University of Law. As an avid learner I believe in Life Long Learning and have studied extensively and improved my knowledge of various disciplines as well as contemporary teaching methods.
I am able to teach students across the secondary age range. As a teacher I regard myself to be confident, enthusiastic and hardworking. I am also a highly motivated teacher who relishes a challenge; I am dedicated and strive towards all my students becoming successful learners and achieving their true potential. I achieve this by encouraging them to hone and develop their skills and subject knowledge. I build their confidence by utilising a variety of teaching methods and resources from interactive teaching tools to exam style questions and model answers.
For the past three years Cohort Tuition has been a great outlet for my desire and ability to reach learners at whatever ability and bring them up to speed, offering them a competitive edge and maximising their learning experience. Cohort Tuition provides an excellent, conducive learning environment and allows me as a teacher to get the best out of my students.
